Mahi-Mahi 35 lbs on 12 lb Test
AAAHI EVERYONE! As fall begins so does great fishing. I have been keeping an eye on Lake Erie surface temps, and the past week or so have been seeing consistent readings in the mid to upper 60s. I also checked the Maumee River temp and got a reading of 68. As the water temperatures slowly begin to drop many of the perch and walleye in the lake will come closer to shore. I have heard of a few anglers doing well off of peirs but for the most part boaters are having better luck at this time. Once the low 60s and 50 degree water temps show up shore fisherman will see better numbers. Dont rule out the Maumee River just yet because this time of year brings some of the best fishing.. I have recently had some luck catching resident walleye and expect things to get even better. Many of the walleye anglers will head up to the dam with lead heads and twister tails for success, and from recent reports it sounds like they are seeing some fish. Flatheads and channels are still being caught above and below the dam so grab some shad and bluegill and toss em into your favorite hole. As far as crappie fishing goes they remain elusive. Your best bet for crappie is to fish marinas and peirs. Smallmouth anglers are still having luck but I havent heard of any crazy numbers. If your going to target smallies try throwing something that resembles a crayfish. Rebel crayfish and tubes seem to be the most popular. On a final note we are all sportsman here so remember your bag limits and throw those smallmouth back so they live to see another crankbait. HAPPY FISHING and GOOD LUCK!
